・ You can visit the "Former Muranishi Residence," a Kyoto townhouse that is normally closed to the public and is designated as a nationally registered tangible cultural property.
In this historic Kyoto townhouse, you can enjoy matcha green tea and traditional Japanese sweets, and experience a glimpse of everyday life in a Kyoto townhouse.
In addition, guests can enjoy the elegant game of "Tosenkyo," which can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from children to the elderly.

• We accept applications year-round. After making your donation, you will need to contact Rakutabi Co., Ltd. directly to arrange your participation date (please do so at least 30 days before your desired participation date).
If the number of participants for your preferred date and time is less than 5, we may reschedule your reservation to another date and time.
The types of Japanese sweets offered will vary depending on the season. Please note that you cannot choose the type of sweets you receive.

2. Introductory Course Experience for Traditional Architecture Research (for one person) - Provided by JTB Kyoto Branch Co., Ltd.

You can take courses on traditional architecture at the Kyoto Architectural College's "Yoshiyamachi Campus," a traditional Kyoto townhouse.
From ancient times to the present day, temples and shrines, the Shinden-zukuri style of Heian-period aristocrats and the Shoin-zukuri style of samurai families, the tea ceremony aiming for the smallest possible space, and various folk houses and townhouses throughout Japan... specialists in the field will explain the basics of Japanese architecture (no prior knowledge of architecture is required to attend).
There are two courses, Course A and Course B. Please choose one.

(Experience details)
This Kyoto townhouse was originally built as the residence of a long-established merchant family. In addition to the entrance hall and storehouse, it also features a shoin-style drawing room that was added during the enthronement of Emperor Taisho. The tour includes commentary from the owner.
Afterwards, we experienced a tea ceremony in a traditional 4.5-tatami mat tea room.
We accept reservations for one person at a time.

3. Traditional bamboo lath weaving and rough plastering experience (for one person) Provided by JTB Kyoto Branch Co., Ltd.


(Experience details)
- You will experience the weaving of "bamboo lath," which forms the base of the "earthen walls" of Kyoto townhouses (Course A only), and the process of applying earthen plaster to the walls.
• We offer catered lunch boxes for lunchtime.
We offer two courses: Course A, which includes both bamboo lath weaving and rough plastering, and Course B, which includes only rough plastering. Please choose one.
